Phillies Win Series Against The Cubs 2-1

The Phillies won their most recent series against the Chicago Cubs two games to one. This was nice to see after a disappointing sweep at the hands of the San Francisco Giants. The series looked like it was going to go along the same lines as they opened the series with a 10-1 loss. The Phillies then came back in the next game and gave a beating of their own dominating on the way to a 12-3 victory. The third game was the most competitive one as it was scoreless through the first six innings, before the Phillies scored two runs in the 7th inning that would eventually lead to victory as they finished the game with a score of 2-1.

The Chicago Cubs are in a relatively similar position as we are in the National League standings so a series win against them will help to boost our standings in the league. That being said, this series was a microcosm of the Phillies series so far. It had a terrible defeat, a terrific victory, and contentious moments that could have gone either way. All in all, it’s still pretty hard to say where the Phillies will end up finishing this year and if this series was any indication, then we may not know until the very last game.
