Eagles Pick 2 Georgia Defenders In The 1st Round

Last night night the Eagles selected two defensive players from the University of Georgia. The first move of the night included a one spot trade with the Bears to move from 10 to 9 and with that pick they selected Jalen Carter who was considered to be perhaps the most talented player in this year’s draft. Carter fell due to some off the field issues but as far as on the field production the Eagles couldn’t have picked a better player.

The other Eagles pick was at the 30 spot where they selected Nolan Smith who is an Edge rusher. He is another player that I’m surprised fell as far as he did, but will undoubtedly add depth to the Eagles already potent pass rushing rotation.

These are two players that undoubtedly have the ability to contribute to the team’s success right away, although there are still concerns about Carter’s off the field issues. Overall the Eagles have to pleased with how the first round went; although I am surprised that they weren’t able to get Jahmyr Gibbs at 30 and especially that he was picked up by Detroit at pick #12 of all places. All that being said I’m looking forward the rest of the draft and excited to see who I’ll be cheering on for the next several years.
