Several key players for the Eagles are out with injury, and with the playoffs right around the corner it’s crucial that they get healthy as soon as possible. Especially considering that next week’s game will have a major effect on whether or not the Eagles clinch the number one seed. All that being said there updates on the status of three of Philadelphia’s most valuable players.
As far as Quarterback Jalen Hurts in concerned, Head Coach Nick Sirianni says he has a “Green Light” to play as soon as he gets clearance from the medical staff. Hurts has been going through rehab on his injured shoulder, and has been working very hard according to Sirianni. Hurts is showing progress in his recovery as he returned to practice and participated in individual and positional drills this week. Hurts has missed the past two games, both Eagles losses, so he is the player that is most critical for the the Eagles to get back in the lineup.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson has been out the win against Green Bay after suffering a lacerated kidney. According to Sirianni his injury has been more difficult as it requires more rest and healing as opposed to the rehab work Hurts has been doing. That being said Gardner-Johnson was been working hard to do what he can during his time injured.
Defensive End Josh Sweat had a neck injury in the game against New Orleans this weekend. However, there is positive news as he was released from the hospital and posted on social media that he would return this season. Sirianni commented on Sweat’s injury:
“We’ll take Josh one day at a time,” Sirianni said. “I’m just really thankful that it wasn’t more serious there and I know everybody in that stadium was holding their breath because anytime that stretcher comes out, that’s tough to deal with. Josh was saying, ‘Hey, let me get up. I can get up.’ The doctors in that scenario have to make sure they go through all the right scenarios. I felt a little more at ease because of what Josh was saying out there.”
