TCU won an incredible game against Michigan to punch their ticket to the National Title game. Their opponent will be the defending Champions in the University of Georgia Bulldogs, who surprisingly had to comeback last second in order to win their game against Ohio State. Both games were a refreshing break from the usual one-sided beatings that we have grown accustomed to seeing in College Football Playoffs Semifinal games.
TCU was a major underdog in their game against Michigan and will be the underdog again against Georgia, as UGA are currently 13.5 point favorites. However, I wouldn’t be so sure that this game will go as expected. If the semifinals taught us anything it’s that TCU is tougher than we thought and Georgia isn’t invincible. Overall, this past weekend’s games gave me two different ideas of how this game could go down.
One is that TCU will have just as much success against Georgia as they did against Michigan. Based on their head to head match up, Michigan is a much better team than Ohio State. Given the fact that TCU dominated Michigan in the first half and Georgia barely scrapped by Ohio State, you could make the argument that TCU might be the better team.
Of course, that is an oversimplification of Saturday’s events. There is a chance that Georgia just overlooked Ohio State and got taken by surprise. Now that Georgia learned that lesson against Ohio State, there is a chance that they just beat TCU like a drum next Monday. Overall, the game could go similarly to the Kansas State and Alabama game.
I think this game could easily go either way, and I’m not sure which way I think it will go. Now if I was a betting man I’d put some cash on TCU, seeing that they’re a +400 underdog. I say that knowing that there is a good chance that Georgia beats the brakes off them. Either way I’m hoping that this is going to be another exciting game.
