A greenish-yellow vegetable packed with all the rich tenderness of bacon, a Bacon Leaf. A plant with a texture akin to leeks or green onions but crunchier, Black Grass. A breed of brown leathery-skinned alpaca with cookies instead of fur, a Cookie Alpaca. All of these and more have recently been discovered on islands that were previously unexplored. The discovery of these ingredients have lead scholars to declare that the world is entering the Gourmet Age.
In addition to the new ingredients I just mentioned, they have also discovered creatures such as the Puffer Whale. They are a rare mammal fish beast classified as a “special caution food” due to the incredible difficulty of capturing and preparing them. The mature Puffer Whale is a deep-sea fish that is normally around six meters in length but as it goes deeper the water pressure of the sea depth compresses them to the size of a normal puffer fish. It is a small, pudgy-looking white fish with a round body, thin fins, small beady eyes, and large blue lips. As a result of the deep pressure, this causes the tastiness of the fish to become highly concentrated but also results in a huge amount of waste to become highly concentrated as well that forms into what is known as the ‘poison sack’.
The fruit that is pictured above is a Grand Berry the Grand Berry plant resembles a large dragon with the long stalks leading to its fruit. Grand Berries have the flavors of many kinds of berries, and are favored by the species that live in that region. All of these discoveries may seem to fantastical to be true, but if you don’t believe be their is documented video evidence on a site called Crunchyroll. The documentary is called Toriko and is named after the hunter that leads their expeditions.
